Channel Islands – July 2011 – Part the First

Summer is mostly over – today is a great weather day, but the leaves are turning, you know? At least compared to LA, it makes all the apple / corn / pumpkin stuff make a bit more logical sense ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyway, I got a little bit of teasing about writing these up so many years later, but they’re as much for me as for anyone else, so no skin off my back. Summer 2011 was really nicely outdoorsy, so here we have another bit of it – the first day of our trip to the Channel Islands.

Nathan and I had been trying to get out to the Channel Islands for some time (well, we’d each been wanting to go, and then when we fell in together, it wasn’t like the desire fell by the wayside : ) we invited some other people, had some interest from other people, and then had that not work out, so, to hades with that, we were going! We planned and booked the trip, heading out for a four-day weekend, from July 29-August 1, to Santa Rosa Island on the Channel Islands National Park. We walked around, saw island foxes, and lots of other things, and had a good time.

Boston – June / July 2011

Hey now! I got married. It was a whole thing. I had fun. I hope the guests did too.
Anytoodles…let’s put up a few pics, eh? Not from the wedding, I don’t really have any yet ๐Ÿ™‚

Just a few memories from one of my work trips to Boston, end of June 2011.

WA and Olympic Peninsula, May 2011 โ€“ Part the Third, Backpacking

Summer has come waltzing in, and it seems to be a pretty hot week here. I like it. My plants are growing well – the tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers are all flowering. It’s getting pretty close to wedding season, and between that and the house, we haven’t managed to go out and do all that much so far this season (though we did manage to make it out to Corbett’s Glen Nature Park for an hour or two today. Hooray!). We’ve stained and sealed some borrowed patio furniture, which is kind of like going camping, except entirely different. So let’s keep on talking about doing some camping in Washington ๐Ÿ™‚ After some travel and photo interlude, we set on out up the Quinault River…

Let’s go backpacking!

WA and Olympic Peninsula, May 2011 – Part the Second, a Photographic Interlude

Not so much going on of late – we put in a raised bed and I put out my seedlings. Good times, but not quite as exciting as being in Washington on the Olympic Peninsula ๐Ÿ™‚ So…where were we? After our first couple of days and having dinner in Forks, well…we set off to the next part of our trip. More beaches and more trees – yay! (This post is rather photo heavier than normal – just too many for me to pick from, too many I loved. Apologies!)

meetings
I think perhaps my favorite photo from the whole trip.

Onwards, friends

WA and Olympic Peninsula, May 2011 – Part the First

Well, it’s still May, so if I get this out soon, I’ll still be on track to post at least once a month, though still so very far short of my desire to try and catch up with at least a post a week. Oh well. We’ve moved into our new house, and I went to California, and the weather turned amazing, which basically means we’ve been mowing the lawn. And I’ve been luxuriating in the fact that the outside has not been trying to cause me to suffer, which is really rather refreshing.

Anyway, however, let me travel briefly back in time…about three years, actually. This trip included my birthday in the Washington rain forest (next post), which was all in all not a bad place for it.

Headlands just south of Cape Flattery. We just watched for a while.

Let me set off on a trip…

Boston – May 2011

In more immediate terms…we bought a house last week. Ayup. So far, we’ve moved some boxes and painted one wall. We’ve been trying to do more, but apparently “I’ll call on such-and-such day” is code for “haha, no I won’t” from plumbers and electricians.

Anyway! Another few months of my life, and another trip to Boston, this one in May of 2011.. I really do spend most of my time on these trips at work, and having dinner with friends, but I do love just walking around the city, and seeing various things. Also, well, you know – seeing friends is nice too ๐Ÿ™‚
