This is really less “text” or a “story” than it is an excuse to put up some photos. Cause….eeep. Anyway, on December 1, 2011, the winds, they did blow….and they took out a heck of a lot of trees. Here are some writeups (the second link is the city page with all the final info!)
At night, the winds didn’t seem too too bad, but driving home from a party and watching the leaves skitter and whirl in the streets was uncanny. I got back to Nathan’s apartment, and there was already a downed tree blocking half the road, but it wasn’t until the next morning that I was able to go out and get a bit more of a view

This was what I saw when I got back at night. Not promising.

The next morning the tree was still down (in the background), not to mention every bit of plant detritus ever

So much detritus! The palm tree bits are the worst. Can’t really drive over them.

This poor dude’s car got body-slammed. I think the term of art for that is “act of god”.

For all the hundreds of trees that came down though, very few caused any damage to structures though, I read
