Mt Baden Powell – May 27, 2012

December 3rd, 2015 by

Happy week after Thanksgiving, friends. Some cold virus has taken it upon itself to fell me most thoroughly this week, so sitting here typing this is one of the more energetic things I’ve done this week. Baby steps! Anyway, a horrifyingly long 3.5 years ago I went on a hike for my birthday, and got to meet up with Dan on his trip over the PCT. I’d gone up Baden-Powell a few times before , but that doesn’t make it a less cool hike to go on. We also saw people flying in gliders. It was a beautiful day. (ETA – this is an 8 mile RT, 2800′ gain hike)

Death Valley. Oh boy, Death!

June 20th, 2007 by

For New Year’s 2006, I went to Death Valley National Park with Erin, Joe, Kate, Vikash, and Dan. (All hail Kate for planning it!). We went up on the 30th and came back on the 2nd of the new year. We car camped, and drove around, and looked at sand, and low places, and salt, and canyons, and had a pretty amazing time all around. Anyway, this entry is pretty long, all apologies.

Darwin Falls, Panamint Springs, Panamint Dunes, Badwater, Natural Bridge, Ubehebe Crater, Mosaic Canyon…whew!

Chilao to Horse Flats, Mt Hillyer.

On May 6, 2006, I went up Mt Hillyer right up here in the San Gabriels. It was me, Dan, Erin, Alex, Chris and Daphne. This is hike 58 in Trails of the Angeles (although I have the prior edition). It’s definitely a midrange hike, 6 miles RT, with 1k’ of gain.

In a reverse twist this year, this February hike ended up being one of the most idyllic of the last several months.

Some of us decided to relax more than others, but who can blame them?
